Google has officially announced the launch date for its latest budget smartphone, the Pixel 9a. The device will hit store shelves on April 10. Initially, the launch had been delayed due to a component quality issue that prompted the company to pause pre-orders and in-store sales until they could ensure the phone’s functionality.
Despite the delay, Google aims to make the Pixel 9a available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. starting on April 10. Users in European countries can look forward to availability by April 14, while customers in regions like Australia, India, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia can expect to find the phone in stores on April 16. Google has also indicated that the Pixel 9a will be “coming soon” to Japan, although a specific date has not been confirmed.
The Pixel 9a will be available at a price point of $499 and introduces two new color options: Iris and Peony. This device is powered by the latest Tensor G4 chip, providing impressive performance and battery life extending up to 30 hours. The Pixel 9a showcases a redesigned aesthetic, moving away from the traditional pill-shaped camera bump and featuring a 6.3-inch pOLED display.
It also runs on Android 15 out of the box and promises seven years of operating system and security updates. While Google has yet to announce a specific pre-order date for the Pixel 9a, interested customers can sign up to receive notifications about its availability online. The tech giant continues to emphasize the inclusion of advanced AI features in this new model, ensuring that it meets the high expectations users have come to associate with the Pixel brand.
