The upcoming Garmin Vivoactive 6 is generating buzz, with expectations that its design and features will closely mirror those of its predecessor, the Vivoactive 5. Information from sources like Gadgets & Wearables and Fitness Tracker Test indicates that the new model may launch soon, potentially by the end of April 2025. The Vivoactive 6 is set to sport an aluminum bezel, a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, and two buttons, much like its earlier version. It will incorporate a fiber-reinforced polymer case and feature all-systems GNSS along with music storage capabilities.
However, it appears that the new model will continue using the Elevate v4 sensor from previous generations, which means it lacks ECG support. Expected to be available in four colors—black, white, green, and pink—the Vivoactive 6 might retail for around $300, similar to the Vivoactive 5. The new model will reportedly be slimmer at 10.9mm compared to the 11.1mm thickness of its predecessor while maintaining the same weight of 26g without the strap. Battery life is also expected to remain unchanged at 11 days per charge, or 5 days with Always On Display activated.
While there are some upgrades in capabilities focused on running, including running dynamics and PacePro features, the absence of a barometric altimeter may disappoint some users. Nonetheless, the introduction of workout animations and increased music storage to 8GB could enhance the user experience. Additionally, the rumored smart alarm feature may add convenience for users. Overall, the Vivoactive 6 looks to provide a steady evolution rather than a revolutionary change, aimed at newcomers to the Garmin ecosystem.
With its anticipated features and design, it promises to be a solid entry-level fitness watch when it arrives.
