Google has introduced an exciting new feature that transforms your search experience into a Pokémon-catching adventure, just in time for Easter. This fun interface allows users to capture all 151 first-generation Pokémon from the comfort of their homes.
When users enter a Pokémon name into the Google search bar, a Pokéball icon appears in the corner of the screen. By clicking on the Pokéball, users will attempt to “catch” the Pokémon they searched for.
This interactive element is part of Google’s effort to create engaging experiences for its users, reminiscent of childhood memories spent in the Pokémon universe. To start this fun quest, users need to sign in to their Google accounts and search for their favorite Pokémon.
Upon catching each Pokémon, they are encouraged to continue the hunt, with hints provided for the next Pokémon on their list. Google has even included special Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that can only be captured with Master Balls, which are earned through catching regular Pokémon.
However, caution is advised when attempting to catch Legendary Pokémon, as users will only succeed if they capture the exact one corresponding to the silhouette displayed on their screen. Failing to do so will result in losing the chance to catch that Pokémon.
While Google has not announced any rewards for participants who “catch ’em all,” the feature taps into a wave of nostalgia that many Pokémon fans cherish. This new Pokédex widget is only available on mobile devices and requires users to log in to their accounts to track progress.
This isn’t Google’s first nostalgic endeavor; last Easter, the search engine was transformed into a retro Block Breaker game, evoking fond memories of classic gaming.
