Recent rumors suggest that Qualcomm may soon unveil its next flagship chipset, the “Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.” Speculation indicates that the reveal could occur as early as the end of September, which would allow smartphone manufacturers to launch devices equipped with the new chip in October.
The information arises from a source on Weibo who reported that Qualcomm’s internal schedule remains unchanged. If these rumors hold true, we could see the first smartphones utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 begin to hit the market shortly after its announcement.
The chip is expected to feature “enhanced Pegasus cores” capable of reaching an impressive 5GHz clock speed. Furthermore, it may be paired with an Adreno 840 GPU for enhanced gaming performance, along with support for LPDDR6 RAM.
This accelerated timeline represents a shift from Qualcomm’s typical release schedule. Last year’s Summit took place in Hawaii from October 21 to 23, indicating that this year’s event might be scheduled for the week of September 22.
This change could enable early adopters to get their hands on devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in the first couple of weeks of October, which mirrors previous launches. In comparison to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite had two core performance processors clocked at 4.32GHz and six additional cores at 3.53GHz.
Speculation suggests that Qualcomm could enhance performance by increasing clock speeds by around 0.7GHz. However, this advancement may also lead to concerns about potential price increases, as seen with prior chip releases.
As the anticipation builds, tech enthusiasts are eager to see how these enhancements will impact the future of smartphone capabilities.
