Among the first beneficiaries of this enhanced setup are Hisense’s 2025 U7 and U8 series televisions, which will soon implement features such as improved app installations and streamlined setup notifications. The upgraded setup process eliminates the need for users to wait for lengthy installations.
Google emphasizes that users can start watching content without unnecessary delays. The new method for app installation is designed to alleviate concerns regarding onboard storage on these devices.
During the initial setup, Android users will receive a notification to “Set up your Google TV,” while iOS users will need to scan a QR code displayed on the screen. Furthermore, users can quickly connect compatible smart devices, such as Google Home speakers, to their Google TV, enhancing control over playback, searches, and more.
The customization options available include unique screensavers, parental controls, and individual user profiles, allowing for a more personalized experience. As of now, this new setup feature is only available for the Hisense models, but Google intends to expand this functionality to other Google TV devices and select Onn.
