Google is reportedly developing a new “Images” feed for its main app that aims to help users discover inspiration, much like Pinterest. This feature was highlighted by tipster AssembleDebug, who noted early code in a recent app update indicating the addition of an “Images” tab at the bottom of the app’s interface.
When users first access the new tab, they will be encouraged to personalize their experience by selecting preferred topics or categories. The initial splash page of the feature promotes the idea of “saving ideas and getting inspired,” prompting users to choose from options such as “Food & Drink,” “Travel,” “Nail Art,” and “DIY & Crafts.”
Once users make their selections, the app will present an assortment of images tailored to those interests. The images will appear on a “For You” page, complete with sources that link back to the original content.
In addition to the “Images” feed, Google is working on enhancements to its Photos app, which recently underwent a design overhaul during the I/O 2025 event. This redesign will incorporate the new Material 3 Expressive design language, offering a vibrant and emotive user experience.
The updates include a modernized layout for memory cards, featuring a heart-shaped cutout and improved accessibility for creating memories. Furthermore, Google is expected to enhance its AI Mode, improving the shopping experience and allowing users to browse for inspiration and products more effectively.
This integration aims to streamline the connection between visual exploration and product discovery. As these features are still in development, it remains to be seen how they will transform the user experience within the Google app.
