Google is set to enhance its voice options within the Search application, based on a recent APK teardown. This indicates that users might soon have the ability to select from different voices while conducting searches, expanding on the previously available single female voice.
Reports suggest that Google will introduce four new voices, which resemble those found in the company’s Gemini AI Mode. The new voice options are playfully named after a space theme: Cosmo, Neso, Terra, and Cassini.
This change aims to provide users with a more personalized and dynamic search experience. Initially, these voices were limited to AI Mode, but it appears that Google plans to integrate them into the standard voice search feature of the Google app.
According to sources, when users engage in voice searches via the app, they will find these four new voices available for selection. This functionality can be accessed using the microphone icon in the Google app, when utilizing quick search features from the home screen, or directly through the Google app itself.
This shift will allow users greater flexibility in how they interact with voice search, moving away from the uniformity of a single voice that has characterized the app for years. Users can select their preferred voice through the app’s settings in the “Voice” section, where a “Choose Voice” list will be presented.
While only four options are currently available for voice search, it seems that Google has reserved an extensive catalog of voices for Gemini Live, offering up to ten choices there. At the recent Google I/O event, the tech giant introduced several AI features and discussed making AI Mode accessible to all users in the U.S., along with other enhancements related to camera and screen sharing on both Android and iOS platforms.
