Adobe has officially launched Photoshop for Android, providing users with a powerful editing tool that rivals its desktop counterpart. This new app is free and comes loaded with essential features such as layering, masking, and blending tools, along with innovative generative AI capabilities. Unlike the long-standing Photoshop Express, this version is designed to offer a more comprehensive experience akin to the desktop application.
The anticipation for its Android release has been building since the iPhone version debuted in February, with users initially told to expect it in late 2025. The new app includes classic Photoshop functionalities and adds several advanced features that will likely compete with other top photo editing applications on Android. The Photoshop app allows access to essential tools like the Spot Healing Brush, detailed layer controls, and professional-grade masking.
Moreover, users can leverage Adobe Stock assets and enjoy seamless integration with other Creative Cloud apps, such as Adobe Express and Lightroom. One of the standout features of the mobile app is its incorporation of Generative Fill and Generative Expand tools, powered by Firefly AI. These features enhance the user experience by enabling the stretching of images, fixing missing parts, and removing unwanted content.
Although many tools are available for free, some premium features, including the Object Select and Magic Wand tools, require a subscription. Users can subscribe for $7.99 per month or $69.99 annually. Starting today, users can download the beta version of Adobe Photoshop from the Google Play Store and explore its extensive capabilities.
