Bose has announced an update to its highly regarded QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, introducing a second-generation model that boasts enhanced features. The new earbuds come with improved Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology, true wireless charging, and upgraded call quality. They are priced at $299 and will be accompanied by the launch of the SoundLink Plus Portable speaker and an updated SoundLink Micro speaker. AI technology plays a crucial role in the latest enhancements to the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds.
By utilizing advanced AI algorithms, the earbuds effectively identify and cancel out sudden bursts of noise when ANC is activated. This improvement builds upon the existing ActiveSense ANC mode and is expected to result in better call quality and voice recognition. The design of the new earbuds has been refined, and they are now available in a new bright color named Deep Plum, in addition to the traditional Black and White Smoke options. An innovative feature introduced is the earwax guard, which helps prevent earwax buildup inside the earbuds.
In terms of functionality, the second-generation QuietComfort Ultra earbuds include wireless charging capabilities and offer up to six hours of battery life with ANC enabled. This addresses a previous limitation of the first-generation model, which required a separate sleeve for wireless charging. The wireless charging is now integrated into the charging case. In conjunction with the new earbuds, Bose is releasing the SoundLink Plus Portable speaker, which offers IP67 waterproofing and a 20-hour battery life, priced at $269.
It comes in vibrant color options, including Citrus Yellow. Additionally, the updated SoundLink Micro speaker features USB-C charging and a 12-hour battery life, scheduled for release at $129. The refreshed lineup is expected to appeal to audio enthusiasts just in time for summer.
