Vivo has officially launched its latest foldable device, the X Fold 5, in China, priced at 7,999 Chinese Yuan (around $1,114). This release has generated considerable buzz, particularly for its surprising integration with Apple products.
Notably, the X Fold 5 is capable of fully pairing with the Apple Watch, allowing for seamless access to health data, text messages, and phone calls. Users can also connect their AirPods and utilize features like file transfer and “Extended Display” with MacOS.
The X Fold 5 retains a design reminiscent of its predecessor, the X Fold 3, featuring a cover display of 6.5 inches that unfolds into an impressive 8-inch inner screen with 2K resolution. When folded, it measures just 9.2mm in thickness, accentuating its portability.
The device boasts a triple camera setup, each with 50MP, and a significant 6,000mAh battery that supports rapid charging at 80W. Moreover, Vivo has introduced its “Big Screen Experience” feature, also referred to as “Atomic Workbench,” which enhances multitasking capabilities.
This functionality allows users to run up to five applications simultaneously with drag-and-drop file transfer between them. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and offers various RAM and storage configurations, including options of 12/256GB, 12/512GB, 16/512GB, and 16/1TB.
Despite the impressive features and enhancements, Vivo has not provided any information regarding a potential global launch. The X Fold 5 is currently available for pre-orders in China, and tech enthusiasts are eager to see how this device performs in the competitive market.
