Xiaomi has unveiled its new AI-powered smart glasses that impressively outlast Ray-Ban Meta’s offerings. These innovative glasses cater to tech-savvy users with features such as real-time translation and the ability to make purchases through Alipay simply by looking at a QR code. At their recent event in Beijing, Xiaomi introduced the AI glasses as part of a broader product launch, which included a foldable phone and a smartwatch. This entry into the smart glasses market intensifies competition, particularly pressuring Meta.
Xiaomi’s glasses are packed with advanced technology, including a 12MP ultra-wide camera that allows for hands-free photography and video recording, as well as real-time object recognition and text translation capabilities. One of the standout features of Xiaomi’s smart glasses is their impressive battery life. They offer up to 8.6 hours of usage from a 263mAh battery, significantly outpacing the Ray-Ban Meta’s maximum of 4 hours on a smaller 154mAh battery. Weighing only 40 grams, these glasses double as open-ear headphones, providing stereo sound through five built-in microphones.
Designed specifically for Asian facial structures, the glasses have adjustable temple arms that enhance comfort but suggest limited global availability. They also feature an IP54 rating, making them resistant to sweat and splashes. The electrochromic lenses adapt automatically to light, shifting shades almost instantly. Retail prices for Xiaomi’s AI Glasses start at CNY 1,999 (around $280), with more advanced tint-shifting variants ranging up to CNY 2,999 ($420).
Buyers can choose from several frame styles, including Classic Black, Parrot Green, and Translucent Tortoiseshell Brown, making them a stylish and functional choice in the evolving tech landscape.
