Spotify has announced significant updates aimed at enhancing user control over music management and discovery, particularly for Premium subscribers. The latest features include an upgraded “Queue,” improved playlist customization options, and the introduction of a new “Snooze” button. The revamped Queue system is designed to provide easier access to options like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer, giving users more flexibility in their listening experience.
After listening to the songs they’ve queued, Premium users will see personalized recommendations in their Queue, contingent on whether they have Smart Shuffle or Autoplay enabled. In addition to these changes, the introduction of the Hide button allows users to conceal a song across all synced devices. Meanwhile, the Snooze button offers a temporary reprieve from a specific song for up to 30 days.
These features are being gradually rolled out to Premium subscribers, with plans for eventual wider availability. Another major focus of this update is playlist management, especially for mobile users. Spotify is adding features at the top of playlists, including Add, Sort, and Edit options.
Users who frequently utilize their “Liked Songs” can look forward to an option to create a playlist from their liked tracks, with capabilities to filter music by genre. This feature is currently being rolled out in various regions, including the U.S., U.K., and several other countries. Lastly, a new Create Button, located at the bottom-right of the app, will facilitate features such as playlist creation and collaboration with friends.
Premium users in specific markets will also have access to Spotify’s Jam and AI Playlists, which allow for personalized playlist generation based on user input. As Spotify continues to expand these features, it encourages users to explore their creative possibilities through the app.
