Google Drive has introduced an exciting new feature called “Catch Me Up,” which utilizes Gemini AI to help users stay informed about recent changes to their files. This update is particularly beneficial for those utilizing Google Workspace and Google One AI Premium plans.
The “Catch Me Up” feature functions by highlighting important edits and comments in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Users can find this feature in the “Ask Gemini” section of Google Drive, which provides a concise overview of modifications made since the last time the files were accessed.
According to Google, this feature aims to ensure users are always in the loop regarding significant updates to their documents. When activated, “Catch Me Up” delivers a summary of crucial changes across all documents or provides a detailed overview of specific files since they were last opened.
For instance, if changes were made to a particular Google Doc, Gemini will display the specific amendments since the user’s last visit, making it easy to stay current on projects. Moreover, for documents that are frequently edited, a “Catch Me Up” icon will appear next to the file name, allowing users to quickly access this overview feature.
This is a convenient tool for collaborative work, ensuring that everyone is aware of the latest modifications without having to manually sift through documents. The rollout of this feature began on June 3 for users in both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, initially supporting English language users.
As a result, Google Drive now offers a smarter way for users to keep track of their collaborative work, enhancing productivity and communication within teams.
